Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Mobixoft LLC ("we", "us") collects, uses, and shares information when you use the Rock Identifier mobile app (the "App"). We built Rock Identifier to need as little personal data as possible — you do not create an account, and we never ask for your name or email to use it.

1. Information we collect

Photos you scan

When you identify a specimen, the photo you capture or choose is uploaded to our processing backend and sent to our AI vision provider (Google) to generate an identification. Scan images and their results may be stored to operate, secure, and improve the service.

Anonymous identifier

The App signs you in with an anonymous Firebase Authentication ID. This ID is not linked to your real-world identity and is used to associate your scans, collection, and subscription entitlement with your device.

Optional information you choose to provide

Community sharing: if you toggle "Share with the community", your identified specimen (image, mineral, confidence, and any optional note or locality text you enter) becomes publicly visible in the App's community gallery.
Location: only if you tap the location button, we request your location once and convert it into a coarse place name (e.g. "city, country"). We do not store your precise GPS coordinates — only the text you can see and edit.
Onboarding choice: the interest you select during onboarding (e.g. "crystal collecting") is stored to tailor the experience.

Subscription & diagnostics

Subscriptions: purchases are handled by Apple; we use RevenueCat to verify your subscription entitlement. We receive purchase/entitlement status, not your payment card details.
Diagnostics: we use Sentry to capture crashes and errors (including anonymous ID, app version, device model, locale) so we can fix problems.

2. How we use information

To identify specimens and return results, value estimates, and specimen details.
To operate your saved collection, community gallery, and subscription access.
To secure the service, prevent abuse, debug, and improve identification quality.
To comply with legal obligations.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your scans to build advertising profiles.

3. Service providers we share with

Google (Firebase & Gemini): authentication, storage, database, remote configuration, and AI image analysis.
RevenueCat: subscription management and entitlement verification.
Sentry: crash and error monitoring.
Apple: App Store purchases and subscription billing.

These providers process data on our behalf under their own terms and security practices.

4. Data retention & deletion

We retain scan data and your anonymous profile while the App is in use and as needed to provide the service. You can request deletion of your data — including your scans, shared community posts, and anonymous profile — at any time by emailing support@airockidentifier.app from the device or including your in-app User ID (Settings → Copy ID). We will delete the associated data within a reasonable period, except where retention is required by law.

Because sign-in is anonymous, deleting the App and its data removes the link to your device. Shared community posts you created can be removed on request.

5. Children

Rock Identifier is a general-audience, educational app and is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age in your region). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

6. Your rights

Depending on where you live (e.g. the EEA/UK under GDPR, or California under the CCPA/CPRA), you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict processing of your information, and to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. To exercise these rights, contact support@airockidentifier.app.

7. International transfers

Our providers may process data in the United States and other countries. We rely on appropriate safeguards for such transfers where required.

8. Security

We use industry-standard measures (including encryption in transit) to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.

9. Changes

We may update this policy. Material changes will be reflected by the "Effective" date above and, where appropriate, in the App.
